Interactive Survey & Design

STEP ONE/ b, the site survey

There’s an old adage in computing: garbage in, garbage out.

When it comes to designing a wireless network, the same holds true. If you don’t have good data, you can’t design a good solution. That’s why Summit’s staff of professionally trained and certified technicians works hard to gather the real-world physical data that is essential to designing a wireless network that will work for your organization now and in the future.

Other approaches, including the “send us your blueprints and we’ll create a design for you,” make assumptions and use generalizations that often result in wireless network troubles once deployed. We know this first-hand: almost 50% of our business is fixing failed wireless networks installed by other companies.

Summit’s site survey is a thorough physical analysis of the your facility. We create a detailed map of the physical plant, including the size, type and placement of rooms and walls, even including the service closets, elevators, and equipment rooms. The survey also includes the placement of stored goods and inventory, as every physical object has a varying impact on the radio wave propagation necessary to WLAN operation.

As we collect this physical data, we also analyze your facility’s radio frequency characteristics, which we capture in a spectrum analysis.
